Cry Me A River....

One of the most controversial parts of the tattoo world is that of the teardrop tattoo. This look is worn by a number of people, but is most commonly spoken about due to its connections with imprisonment. Even within the prison system, the teardrop tattoo has a number of meanings and if you have one, it is worth being careful about who you speak to because there can be confusion over what it means. Explaining it may work, but remember that if someone has been to prison they may well have been there for a reason and not be terribly impressed by your explanation.

Usually, at least outside the prison system, the teardrop tattoo is given to symbolise the loss of a person close to you. However, its prison meaning, and one that extends to the outside due to the presence of former prisoners in the community, will often be that the person has killed another person. More than one teardrop beneath your eye means more than one kill. Whether the teardrop is filled or not also affects its meaning. An empty tear can mean an unsuccessful attempted murder, or that a loved one has been murdered. A tear that is full at the bottom and empty at the top means that the death of a loved one has been sought out.

For such reasons as listed above, it is perhaps NOT SMART, UNCOOL to get a teardrop under your eye. So dont do it because Lil Wayne did it(you'd be surprised at how many people copy him)!

Tats and Sketches

Trendy Trauma

You can call me picky, but when it comes to tattoos, one of the last words that I want to hear is “trendy”. The very concept of trendy - that is, cool today, completely lame tomorrow - is something that just shouldn't’t be applied to anything as permanent of a decision as is a tattoo.
With that being said people....be original! Dont get "ssshhh" on your finger just because Rihanna has it. Because as a matter of fact Rihanna got the idea from Lilly Allen! So I'm just saying!

It urks me when someone looks at one of my tattoos and says "eww i want you to tattoo that on me too" NO MAAM!!! GET YOUR OWN!

Unfortunately for me, trendy is absolutely a part of tattooing. Many people go to get tattoos based on FAMOUS references which they feel are stylish, hip, cool, you name it. That hasn’t changed for decades and I certainly don’t foresee it changing anytime soon. Even though I don’t like the idea, I still do find it interesting to learn exactly what is currently trendy when it comes to tattoos.

side note: The Ink Shrink is so over the butterfly tramp stamp!!

HELLLOOOOO WORLD! It is I, yours truly THE INK SHRINK!! And yes this is my first blog. This has been a long time coming and im still not quite at my final destination!! Some of you may ask...where did the name come from. Well I can answer that one. I sat in bed a few weeks ago and thought to myself "You know Brit your addiction and love for tattoos is really getting out of hand maybe you should see a shrink". Then reality sat in and BAM there it was a name for ME!!
We all need someone to talk to...and if your addicted to Ink like I am then I just may be the tattoo artist for you!!! Anybody can draw a picture but it takes an artist to make a masterpiece in skin! Im fairly new on the scene but my artwork speaks for itself!

I feel like the saying is true "your body is a temple" but how long can you live in the same house before you redecorate?

This blog will be all inclusive: Tattooing, the exploration of my experiences, techniques, travels and relationships via a unique medium. INK!!!
